Rotterdam was flattened in the 1940 Blitz and rebuilt as a showcase for architecture that dares to look nothing like the rest of the Netherlands. This walk strings together the city's must-see sights: the fragment of old town that survived, the market hall and Cube Houses that made Rotterdam famous, the Maritime Museum's historic harbour, and the promenade with its view of the Erasmus Bridge and the Kop van Zuid skyline. Start at the Stadhuis on Coolsingel, a short walk from Rotterdam Centraal station.
