Scenic Peaks of Saitama
This collection features the prominent peaks of the Chichibu and Okumusashi regions, ranging from the 2,017-meter summit of Mt. Kumotori to the accessible 197-meter Tenranzan. These locations provide strategic vantage points over the Kanto Plain and the surrounding mountain ranges. The list includes historically significant sites like Mt. Dodaira, formerly home to a national astronomical observatory, and peaks like Mt. Kirimogamine, which marks a key point on the trail to the Mitsumine Shrine.
A Mt. Kumotori
Mount Kumotori stands at the boundary of Tokyo, Saitama, and Yamanashi Prefectures on the island of Honshū, Japan.
B Mt. Izugatake
An 850-meter peak in Hanno known for its steep rocky ridges and the Otoko-zaka chain-climb section. It offers expansive views across the Okumusashi hills and the Kanto Plain.
C Mt. Kirimogamine
Standing at 1,523 meters in the Okuchichibu range, this peak features a rest house and a memorial dedicated to Princess Chichibu, who gave the mountain its name.
D Mt. Dodaira
This 876-meter summit formerly hosted the Dodaira Observatory of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan. It provides a 360-degree panorama of the Kanto Plain and the Chichibu mountains.
E Tenranzan
A 197-meter hill in Hanno named to commemorate Emperor Meiji’s 1883 visit to observe military exercises. The summit offers views of the city and the distant skyscrapers of Tokyo.
F 棒ノ嶺（棒ノ折山）
A 969-meter mountain on the border of Saitama and Tokyo. The primary ascent route follows the Shiratani Stream, passing through a narrow gorge with several waterfalls before reaching the broad summit.
