Religious Heritage

The Soroca District preserves a significant collection of Moldovan religious architecture, ranging from the 19th-century neoclassical Catedrala Adormirea Maicii Domnului to rare wooden churches in Tătărăuca Veche and Holoșnița. This selection includes the Cosăuți Monastery, rebuilt in the 1990s near ancient stone quarries, and various village churches dedicated to Saint Nicholas and the Archangels. These sites reflect the region's long-standing Orthodox traditions and the distinctive use of local stone and timber in ecclesiastical construction.

Mănăstirea Cosăuți

Stone monastery re-established in 1994 on an 18th-century site. It is located near a holy spring and the Dniester River.

Neoclassical Orthodox cathedral built between 1840 and 1842. It serves as the primary spiritual landmark of Soroca.
