Sulina Unmissables

Sulina, Romania’s easternmost town, is accessible only by water and serves as the gateway to where the Danube meets the Black Sea. Danube Delta

The Danube Delta is the second largest river delta in Europe, after the Volga Delta, and is the best preserved on the continent.

Farul vechi (malul stâng)

Built in 1887 on the left bank of the Danube, this historic beacon marks the old entrance to the Sulina channel.

Lighthouse of Sulina Museum

Housed in an 1870 lighthouse, this museum features exhibits on the European Commission of the Danube and the life of maritime writer Jean Bart.

Sulina Beach

Located two kilometers from town, this beach features fine sand and shallow waters. It is situated near the confluence of the Danube River and the Black Sea.

Catedrala ”Sfinții Nicolae și Alexandru”

A large Orthodox cathedral built between 1910 and 1912. The foundation stone was laid by King Carol I, reflecting the town's strategic importance at the time.

Sulina

The town's main passenger terminal and pier, serving as the primary arrival point for ferries and speedboats traveling from Tulcea.

A local history exhibition showcasing vintage photographs, documents, and artifacts that illustrate Sulina's cosmopolitan past as a major maritime port.

Biserica ortodoxă grecească ”Sf Nicolae”

Established in 1868, this church served the town's once-sizeable Greek community and reflects the multi-ethnic heritage of this former international free port.
