Alpine Adventures in Kalkkögel

The Kalkkögel range, often called the Dolomites of North Tyrol, is characterized by its jagged limestone formations and striking alpine scenery. This selection highlights the region's most prominent summits, including the 2,700-meter Große Ochsenwand and the panoramic Saile. It also features essential mountain passes like the Alpenklubscharte and Schlicker Schartl, which connect the Schlick valley with high-altitude huts and via ferrata routes, providing a comprehensive overview of this rugged section of the Stubai Alps.

Saile (Nockspitze)

A 2,404-meter peak offering expansive views over Innsbruck and the Inn Valley. It serves as a prominent landmark at the northeastern end of the Kalkkögel range.

Steingrubenkogel

A rugged limestone peak within the Kalkkögel range, situated near the Alpenklubscharte transition.

Alpenklubscharte

A high-altitude saddle at 2,451 meters that serves as a key transition point between the Adolf-Pichler-Hütte and the Schlicker Alm.

Ampferstein

The eastern pillar of the Kalkkögel, this 2,556-meter summit is frequently climbed in conjunction with the Marchreisenspitze via the Lustige-Bergler-Steig.

Marchreisenspitze

The Marchreisenspitze, at 2,620 m, is the fifth highest summit of the Kalkkögel in the Stubai Alps.

Große Ochsenwand

Standing at 2,700 meters, this peak is a centerpiece of the Kalkkögel and is renowned for its demanding via ferrata (Klettersteig).

Galtalm

A traditional alpine hut and restaurant located at 1,680 meters, accessible via hiking trails from Fulpmes or Neustift im Stubaital.

Malgrubenscharte

An alpine passage at 2,401 meters providing a route through the jagged limestone ridges of the central Kalkkögel.

Schlicker Schartl

A 2,456-meter mountain pass connecting the Schlick area with the Seejöchl and the trail toward the Franz-Senn-Hütte.

Saile (Nockspitze) Vorgipfel

The secondary fore-summit of the Saile mountain, located just north of the main 2,404-meter peak.
