Nature and Hiking
Tepoztlán is defined by the dramatic cliffs of the El Tepozteco National Park and the volcanic terrain of the Chichinautzin range. This selection features the steep ascent to the 13th-century Aztec pyramid atop the mountain, high-altitude trails leading toward San Juan Tlacotenco, and the 3,000-meter peak of Suchioc Grande. Beyond the rugged trails, the list includes the town's central Zocalo and local green spaces that offer views of the surrounding jagged rock formations.
Cerro del Tepozteco
Steep trail leading to a small Aztec temple dedicated to Tepoztecatl, the god of pulque. The archaeological site sits 400 meters above the town floor and offers panoramic views across the valley.
Hike path to San Juan
An uphill trail connecting Tepoztlán to the higher-altitude village of San Juan Tlacotenco, featuring several natural viewpoints overlooking the area's unique vertical rock formations.
Cave
Natural rock cavity located along the mountain trails, often used as a landmark or rest point for hikers exploring the cliffs.
Suchioc Grande
A volcanic peak within the Chichinautzin Biological Corridor, reaching an elevation of over 3,000 meters above sea level.
El Xolo Azul
Ecological park and green space located on the southern edge of the town center.
Zocalo
The town's central plaza, bordered by the 16th-century Ex-Convento de la Natividad and the traditional municipal market.
