Thailand's Best Waterfalls
Ko Pha Ngan's interior is home to several granite-bed waterfalls, primarily protected within the Than Sadet-Ko Pha Ngan National Park. These sites include Than Sadet, which holds historical significance due to inscriptions left by several Thai monarchs, and Phaeng Yai, the island's largest waterfall. The cascades are most active during the rainy season between October and January. Many locations, such as Wang Sai and Paradise Waterfall, offer natural swimming pools and are accessible via inland hiking trails.
Phaeng Yai Waterfall
The largest waterfall on the island, located in the national park. A nearby trail leads to the Khao Ra viewpoint.
Than Praphat Waterfall
Secluded cascade on the eastern coast, accessible by boat or a difficult jungle hike from Haad Rin or Haad Sadet.
Phaeng Noi Waterfall
Small cascade near the national park entrance, reached via a short, flat walking path.
Wang Sai Waterfall
Features limestone formations and natural pools suitable for swimming, located near the northwest coast.
Than Sadet Waterfall
Historically significant site with rock inscriptions from Kings Rama V, VII, and IX. The stream flows through massive granite boulders.
Saampan Waterfall
Minor cascade located in the jungle near the Than Sadet area.
