Heritage Sites in Trøndelag

Trøndelag’s heritage spans from the medieval Nidaros Cathedral, a national shrine and coronation site, to the UNESCO-listed copper mining town of Røros. The region features the 17th-century Kristiansten Fortress and Stiftsgården, one of Scandinavia’s largest wooden buildings. Open-air exhibits at Sverresborg Trøndelag Folk Museum preserve traditional architecture, while the "Gauldal Cathedral" in Melhus and the 12th-century Skaun Church showcase the area's long-standing ecclesiastical history and stonework.
