Utah’s landscape features a diverse collection of water bodies, from the hypersaline Great Salt Lake to the high-altitude Mirror Lake in the Uinta Mountains. This selection includes massive man-made reservoirs like Lake Powell on the Colorado River and natural landmarks such as the turquoise Bear Lake. Vertical features range from the 607-foot double cataract Bridal Veil Falls to the slot canyon cascades of Kanarra Falls, representing the state’s varied freshwater ecosystems and desert hydrology.

Freemont River Waterfall

A wide cascade on the Fremont River located near the Fruita district of Capitol Reef National Park. The falls were created when the river was diverted during the construction of Highway 24.

A two-tiered waterfall dropping over 200 feet down a vertical limestone cliff. It is situated on the eastern side of Mount Timpanogos within the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.

A small waterfall tucked into a shaded stone alcove at the end of a short trail in Payson Canyon. The water flows into a shallow pool enclosed by high rock walls.

Upper Provo River Falls

A series of wide, multi-tiered cascades located along the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway in the Uinta Mountains. The river drops over several rocky ledges into deep pools.

White Pine Lake

A high-elevation alpine lake located in the Bear River Mountains near Logan. It sits in a glacial cirque below Mount Naomi and is surrounded by limestone cliffs and subalpine forest.
