Culture & Heritage in Varkaus

The Mechanical Music Museum

Houses a vast collection of orchestrions, street organs, and music boxes from around the world. Guided tours include live demonstrations of instruments ranging from pocket-sized boxes to massive fairground organs.

Kurjet pesällä

A bronze sculpture of cranes at their nest, created by artist Taru Mäntynen in 1987. It is located in the central park area of Varkaus.

Located in a historic industrial building, this museum center combines local history and art exhibitions. It focuses on the industrial development of the region and the heritage of the Ahlström company.

Härkämäen observatorio

An astronomical observatory equipped with telescopes for research and public observation. The site also features a lean-to and nature trails in the Kangaslampi district.
