Whitehorse serves as a gateway to the Yukon's diverse history, spanning from the Ice Age to the Klondike Gold Rush. This collection features the SS Klondike, a restored 1930s sternwheeler, and the Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre, which details the prehistoric land bridge and megafauna. Cultural heritage is central to the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre and the MacBride Museum, while the Yukon Transportation Museum showcases the evolution of northern travel and the Yukon Arts Centre highlights contemporary regional creators.

SS Klondike

A restored 1937 sternwheeler and National Historic Site. Once the largest vessel in the British Yukon Navigation Company fleet, it transported silver-lead ore and passengers along the Yukon River between Whitehorse and Dawson City.

Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre

A riverfront facility dedicated to the heritage of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation. It features rotating exhibits of Indigenous art, traditional clothing, and historical artifacts alongside community gathering spaces.

MacBride Museum of Yukon History

This museum covers Yukon history through Gold Rush artifacts, First Nations beadwork, and wildlife displays. The site includes the original 1900 telegraph office and the cabin of Sam McGee.

Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre

Focuses on the prehistoric landscape of Beringia. Displays include fossils and reconstructions of Ice Age fauna such as woolly mammoths, scimitar cats, and giant beavers, alongside exhibits on early human migration.

Yukon Transportation Museum

Documents northern transit history, featuring dog sleds, stagecoaches, and bush planes. The exterior is notable for a Douglas DC-3 mounted on a rotating pedestal, serving as the world's largest weather vane.

Yukon Arts Centre

A multidisciplinary venue featuring a public art gallery and a 428-seat theatre. The gallery focuses on contemporary works by northern and Indigenous artists and maintains a permanent collection of regional art.
