Valley of the Temples

The site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest archaeological park in Europe, encompassing the remains of the ancient city of Akragas. This significant Greek city was one of the greatest in the Mediterranean during its cultural peak. The park serves as a major symbol of historical and architectural grandeur from the Hellenistic period.

The landscape is characterized by a series of seven Doric-style temples, which are among the most outstanding examples of ancient Greek art and architecture in Magna Graecia. These exceptionally preserved structures provide physical evidence of the city's former importance and the advancement of Greek civilization in Sicily.
