This semi-natural dam lake is characterized by consistent afternoon thermal winds, making it a hub for sailing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing. It functions as a vital part of the Piave-Santa Croce hydroelectric system, which is managed by Enel.
Originally a smaller natural body of water, the lake was expanded during the 1930s with the construction of a dam. It sits at an elevation of 386 meters above sea level and covers an area of 7.2 square kilometers, with an average depth of 33 meters.
