Arkhangai Essentials

Arkhangai showcases central Mongolia’s diverse landscape and historical depth. The Orkhon Valley contains the 8th-century Orkhon inscriptions and the ruins of Ordu-Baliq, the former Uyghur capital. Natural landmarks include the dormant Khorgo volcano and the freshwater Ögii Lake. Religious sites like the 17th-century Tövkhön Monastery, established by Zanabazar, are built into steep mountain ridges, while the massive Taikhar granite rock stands as a prominent geological feature inscribed with centuries of petroglyphs and scripts.
