Lakes & Waterfalls

Austria's Alpine landscape features a diverse collection of water-based natural landmarks. This selection includes the 380-meter Krimml Waterfalls, the highest in the country, and the Stuibenfall, Tyrol's tallest cascade. Major bodies of water range from the UNESCO-listed Lake Neusiedl, Central Europe’s largest endorheic lake, to the deep glacial waters of Lake Atter and the fjord-like Achensee. Other notable sites include the seasonal Grüner See in Styria and the high-elevation Alpenzoo, which focuses on indigenous Alpine wildlife species.
