Bsharri District Essentials

Bsharri District serves as the spiritual and natural center of the Mount Lebanon range. The area preserves the Cedars of God, a UNESCO-listed ancient forest, and the Qadisha Valley, which houses rock-cut Maronite monasteries like Saint Elisha. The district features the highest peak in the Levant, Qurnet Al Sawda, reaching 3,088 meters. Visitors can explore the biographical museum of poet Khalil Gibran in a converted monastery and access Lebanon’s oldest ski resort.

Qadisha Valley Monasteries

The Qadisha Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Northern Lebanon, is one of the world's most important early Christian monastic settlements. Carved into steep limestone cliffs, its ancient monasteries and hermitages served as a sanctuary for Maronite communities for centuries. The valley features rock-cut chapels with medieval frescoes, the historic seat of the Maronite Patriarchate, and the nearby Cedars of God, a protected grove of ancient trees.
