The Bükk Mountains house a diverse collection of historical fortifications and aristocratic residences, ranging from the restored late-Gothic Castle of Diósgyőr to the atmospheric ruins of Szarvaskő. This selection includes the 18th-century Baroque De la Motte Mansion in Noszvaj, the exceptionally preserved 13th-century Cistercian abbey at Bélapátfalva, and ancient Celtic earthworks like Nagy-sánc. These sites reflect the region's strategic importance from the Iron Age through the medieval period and into the era of the Austro-Hungarian nobility.
