Gunma Essentials

Gunma's landscape is defined by the volcanic peaks of Mount Asama and Mount Akagi, offering diverse highland terrain. The region's industrial legacy is preserved at the UNESCO-listed Tomioka Silk Mill and the Takayama-sha Sericulture School, which pioneered modern silk production in the 19th century. Cultural landmarks include the 41.8-meter-tall Takasaki Byakue Dai-Kannon statue and the historic grounds of Numata Castle.
