Natural Wonders
The Hida Mountains, or Northern Japan Alps, contain a high concentration of volcanic water features and alpine basins. This collection highlights several of Japan’s Top 100 Waterfalls, including the 64-meter Hirayu Waterfall and the triple-source Sanbondaki. High-altitude landmarks include Taisho Pond, created by the 1915 eruption of Mount Yakedake, and Happo Pond at 2,060 meters. Many of these sites are situated within the Chubu Sangaku National Park, accessible via the hiking trails of Kamikochi and the Gandate Park lava formations.
