Alpine Huts and Shelters
This collection features essential mountain refuges and traditional alpine huts along the Carnic High Trail (Karnischer Höhenweg), spanning the border between Austria and Italy. Located at elevations between 1,400 and 2,100 meters, these shelters provide strategic bases for high-altitude trekking. Many serve regional Carinthian and Friulian specialties, while others offer basic bivouac facilities or historical significance from World War I. Key sites include the high-altitude Rifugio Marinelli and the lakeside Obstansersee-Hütte.
