Historic Churches of Pskov

Pskov’s UNESCO-listed religious architecture represents the pinnacle of the medieval Pskov School of Architecture. These white-stone structures, dating from the 12th to 17th centuries, are characterized by their cubic volumes, traditional belfries, and lack of excessive ornamentation. The collection includes the 12th-century frescoes of the Mirozhsky Monastery and the fortified Trinity Cathedral. These churches served as both spiritual centers and defensive structures during the city's history as a border fortress.
