Trincomalee District Must-Sees

Trincomalee District features a diverse collection of historical and natural sites along Sri Lanka's eastern coast. The region is home to the Koneshwaram Temple, a significant Hindu site on Swami Rock, and the 17th-century Fort Frederick. Natural highlights include the white sands of Nilaveli Beach and the Kanniya Hot Water Wells, which consist of seven distinct springs. Visitors can explore the 2nd-century BC Buddhist ruins of Velgam Vehera or visit the 1863 Foul Point Lighthouse. Local commerce centers around the central market and the harbor's fresh fish stalls.
