Budova UNESCO v Paríži bola postavená v rokoch 1955 – 1958. Stavba je víťazným návrhom učiteľa Bauhausu a architekta Marcela Breuera, architekta Bernarda Zehrfussa a inžiniera Pier Luigi Nerviho v súťaži vypísanej roku 1952. Jednotlivé návrhy hodnotila porota zvučných mien ako Walter Gropius, Lucio Costa, Le Corbusier, Sven Markelius a Ernesto Rogers.
