Designed by the Italian architect Gherardo Bosio and completed in 1941, this Rationalist square serves as a significant pedestrian zone and public venue. It functions as a primary site for municipal events and concerts and is the second largest square in the city.
The square's design reflects the Rationalist architectural style, a movement prominent during the mid-20th century. The site was constructed between 1939 and 1941, featuring an expansive layout used for public assembly.
Several prominent institutions border the space, including the University of Tirana, the Polytechnic University of Tirana, and the University of Arts. The National Archaeological Museum is also located on the perimeter, contributing to the area's status as a cultural and educational hub.
