Amazon Geoglyphs

Acre's geoglyphs are massive geometric earthworks carved into the Amazonian soil, dating back approximately 2,000 years. These ditches and embankments, forming precise circles, squares, and hexagons, were created by complex pre-Columbian societies. Revealed largely by modern deforestation, these archaeological sites served ceremonial and social functions rather than defensive ones, challenging previous assumptions about the density and sophistication of ancient populations in the upper Amazon basin.
