Sacred Architecture of the Coast
This collection features the diverse religious architecture of Lithuania’s coastal region, reflecting its complex multi-confessional history. It includes the Mary Queen of Peace Church, the only church built in the Baltic States during the Soviet era, alongside historic 19th-century Lutheran brick churches in Rusnė and Kretingalė. The list spans traditional Catholic sanctuaries, Russian Orthodox temples, and unique structures like the Nida Lutheran Church, showcasing the coexistence of Lutheran, Catholic, and Orthodox communities across Klaipėda and the Curonian Lagoon.
A Mary Queen of Peace Church
A Roman Catholic church completed in 1960. It is notable for being the only church permitted to be built in the Baltic States during the Soviet period, though it was confiscated shortly after completion and only returned to the faithful in 1988.
