Sacred Sites of Significance

This collection highlights the diverse religious architecture and spiritual history of the Galle region. It features the 18th-century Dutch Reformed Church within the Galle Fort and the ancient Galapatha Raja Maha Viharaya in Bentota, which dates back to the 2nd century BCE and houses sacred relics. The list also includes modern landmarks like the Tsunami Honganji Vihara, a 30-meter standing Buddha statue built as a memorial in Peraliya, and the secluded Galduwa Hermitage, a traditional forest monastery dedicated to meditation.
