Parks and Green Spaces

Görlitz features a diverse array of green spaces, from the landscaped municipal park to the historically significant religious topography of the Ölberg and Kidrontal. These areas integrate medieval fortifications like the Nikolaizwinger with riverside views along the Neisse. Many locations, such as the Park des Friedens, include monuments dedicated to the city's cultural and intellectual history.

Municipal Park

Landscaped green space featuring the 15th meridian stone, a rose garden, and historical monuments. It borders the Neisse river and serves as the city's primary recreational area.

Nikolaizwinger

A terraced garden situated between the inner and outer medieval city walls. It preserves historical defensive structures and provides views of the St. Nicholas Church.

Ölberg

Part of the Görlitz Holy Sepulchre complex, this religious landscape replicates the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. It features symbolic plantings and pathways used for spiritual reflection.

Park des Friedens

Centrally located park containing the monument to philosopher Jakob Böhme. The space is characterized by wide lawns and statues, connecting the city center to the southern districts.

Uferpark

A riverside promenade along the Neisse, providing views of the Polish city of Zgorzelec and the Old Town Bridge. It features walking paths and seating areas near the water.
