Historic Churches & Places of Worship

Nova Scotia’s religious landscape is defined by diverse architectural styles, ranging from the towering wooden spire of Sainte-Marie in Church Point to the sandstone masonry of Saint Ninian’s Cathedral in Antigonish. This collection spans various denominations, including Catholic, Anglican, and Baptist traditions. Many of these sites, such as the stone churches of Cape Breton and the rural chapels along the Marine Drive, reflect 19th-century craftsmanship and the cultural heritage of Acadian, Scottish, and Black Loyalist settlers.

St Peters Catholic Church
