Religious Sites of Slovak Karst

The Slovak Karst landscape preserves a diverse collection of religious monuments, from the unique St. Ladislaus Plant Church near Debraď, where living trees form the structure's walls, to the significant Gothic frescoes of the Reformed church in Plešivec. This selection includes the Romanesque rotunda in Šivetice, one of Central Europe's largest, alongside secluded forest chapels like Derenk and historic village churches in Hrhov and Jablonov nad Turňou, reflecting the region's Catholic, Reformed, and Greek Catholic heritage.

Kaplnka svätej Anny

A small Baroque chapel located near the Gombasek cave and the ruins of a medieval Pauline monastery.

Rastlinný kostol Svätého Ladislava

A unique architectural site near Debraď where the walls and roof of a former medieval church are formed by growing hornbeam trees. It stands above a legendary spring.

Kostol sv. Jána Krstiteľa

Originally a Gothic church from the late 13th century in Hrhov, featuring a massive defensive wall and a separate Renaissance bell tower.
