Raska District Essentials

Raska District contains the highest concentration of medieval Serbian monuments, centered around the UNESCO World Heritage site of Stari Ras. The region features the 12th-century Studenica and 13th-century Sopoćani monasteries, renowned for their preserved Byzantine frescoes and Raška School architecture. Key historical landmarks include the 13th-century Maglič fortress overlooking the Ibar River, the coronation site of Žiča, and the 9th-century Church of Saint Peter. In Vrnjačka Banja, the district transitions to 19th-century heritage with the Italianate Chateau Belimarković and the historic Bridge of Love.
