St. George's Essentials

St. George’s, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is the oldest continuously inhabited English settlement in the Americas, established in 1612. This coastal town features narrow colonial alleys, historic stone fortifications like Fort St. Catherine, and the 17th-century St. Peter's Church. The area preserves maritime history through sites like the replica ship Deliverance on Ordnance Island and various museums housed in 18th-century buildings that detail Bermuda's role in the American Civil War and the path to emancipation.

Religious Heritage

St. George's religious landscape is anchored by the historic St. Peter's Church, established in 1612 as the oldest Anglican site in continuous use in the New World. The town features significant architectural contrasts, from the skeletal Gothic Revival arches of the Unfinished Church to the traditional stone masonry of the Richard Allen AME Church and Stella Maris Parish. These sites represent a cross-section of Bermuda's spiritual history, including Anglican, Methodist, Catholic, and Adventist traditions.
