Varkala's spiritual landscape is anchored by the 2,000-year-old Janardhana Swami Temple, often called the Varanasi of the South, and the Sivagiri Mutt, the final resting place of social reformer Sree Narayana Guru. This collection spans ancient Vaishnavite shrines, serene backwater temples in Kappil, and the historic Kaduvayil Mosque. Jenardhanan Swamy temple

A 2,000-year-old Vaishnavite shrine overlooking Papanasam Beach. It features a circular sanctum, a massive ancient bell, and serves as a primary center for performing ancestral rites.

Sivagiri Mutt

The headquarters of the Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham and the samadhi site of social reformer Sree Narayana Guru. The hilltop complex includes the Sarada Mutt and a primary school.

Thriporittakkavu Devi Temple
