These 50-meter-high basaltic cliffs stretch for two kilometers along the coast. An elevator provides access to an underground cave once used by the Kumano Navy during the Heian period.

Senjyo Jiki

A large plateau of tiered sandstone shaped by wave erosion. The name translates to 'one thousand tatami mats,' referring to the expansive, flat surface that extends toward the Pacific Ocean.

瀞峡 (Doro-kyo Gorge)

A large gorge located within the Yoshino-Kumano National Park. It features sheer cliffs and emerald green water, best viewed from traditional jet boat tours that navigate the narrow river passages.

Mount Benten

A 984-meter peak located near the Koyasan temple complex. The summit is home to the Benten-do shrine, which is part of the traditional Seven Benzaiten pilgrimage.

Mount Tenjiku

One of the three sacred mountains surrounding the Koyasan monastic center. The peak reaches an elevation of approximately 900 meters and is accessible via forest hiking trails.

Hyakken-gura Lookout

A notable vantage point on the Kumano Kodo Nakahechi route. It offers a panoramic view of the '3,600 peaks of Kumano' between the Koguchi and Kumano Hongu Taisha sections.

北山峡 (Kitayama-Kyo Gorge)

Takinohai

A unique riverbed landscape where the water has carved countless potholes and depressions into the rock over centuries. It features a small waterfall and clear pools.

ごまさんスカイタワー

A 33-meter-high observation tower situated at an altitude of 1,282 meters. It provides views of the Kii Mountain range and, on clear days, Shikoku Island.

A park observatory located at a high altitude near the border of Wakayama and Nara. It is known for its clear night skies and 360-degree mountain vistas.
