Museums & Galleries

Western Greece hosts a diverse collection of cultural institutions, ranging from the world-renowned Archaeological Museum of Olympia, which houses the Hermes of Praxiteles, to the modern Archaeological Museum of Patras with its extensive Roman mosaic floor collection. In Messolonghi, the Salt Museum details the history of salt production in the local lagoons, while the Vasso Katraki Museum in Etoliko showcases the evolution of modern Greek engraving. Specialized museums in Olympia further explore ancient technology and the scientific contributions of Archimedes.
