Your day starts by crossing the Benjamin Franklin Bridge to the historic neighborhood of Philadelphia. It is best known as the site of Independence Hall and its encompassing Independence National Historical Park. Independence Hall is a UNESCO World Heritage and the principal meetinghouse of the Second Continental Congress from 1775 to 1783 and the Constitutional Convention in the summer of 1787. Don't forget to visit the Liberty Bell Center. A faithful replica of the original building where Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence is just around the corner.
Continue to the Reading Terminal Market where you can get some refreshments and then go see Philadelphia City Hall, a skyscraper complex known as the Liberty Place and John F. Kennedy Plaza nicknamed Love Park for the reproduction of Robert Indiana's Love sculpture located in the park.
Next stop is the 19th-century Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, the largest Catholic church in Pennsylvania. Finish your day by strolling the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Climb the 72 stone steps leading to the museum known as the "Rocky Steps" because of their appearance in the Rocky films. A bronze Rocky statue is located at the bottom of the steps.
