Historic Fortifications & Monuments
This collection highlights the strategic military history of the Varna region, spanning from Late Antiquity to the late Middle Ages. Key sites include the Ovech Fortress, a stone stronghold perched on a plateau near Provadia, and the medieval Kastrici ruins within the Euxinograd estate. Krepost "Kastrici"
Medieval seaside fortress dating to the 13th–14th centuries. Located within the grounds of the Euxinograd Palace, it served as a significant port and commercial center during the Second Bulgarian Kingdom.
Battle of Varna Park
This old park commemorates the 15th century battle against the Turks. Also serves as a museum - various war-related memorabilia on display.
Ovech Fortress
A medieval stone stronghold situated on a ship-shaped plateau above Provadia. It features a 150-meter-long bridge, rock-cut stairs, and ruins of churches and residential buildings used from the 4th to the 17th centuries.

Asparuh's Wall
An early medieval defensive rampart built in the 7th century to protect the Varna region from maritime invasions. It is traditionally attributed to Khan Asparuh, the founder of the First Bulgarian Empire.
Krum's Fortress
Remains of a medieval fortification associated with the 9th-century Bulgarian ruler Khan Krum, located on the strategic heights overlooking the Varna bay.
Ancient Kiln
A Late Antiquity archaeological site featuring well-preserved ceramic kilns used for the production of construction materials and pottery during the 4th–6th centuries.
Venchan fortress
Ruins of a medieval fortress located on a rocky plateau near the village of Venchan, showing evidence of habitation from the Iron Age through the Middle Ages.
Ksnoanticna i srednovekovna krepost Mgliz
A Late Antiquity and medieval fortification situated on the Frangensko Plateau. The site contains remains of defensive walls and foundations of strategic structures overlooking the northern approaches to Varna.
