Historic Churches & Sanctuaries

Cáceres’ religious landscape reflects centuries of architectural evolution, from medieval Gothic foundations to ornate Baroque facades. This collection includes the Co-cathedral of Santa María, known for its carved cedar altarpiece, and the Jesuit Church of San Francisco Javier with its prominent white towers. Beyond the city walls, the Santuario de la Montaña offers views over the Extremaduran landscape, while smaller hermitages like San Antonio occupy historically significant sites such as the former Jewish quarter.
