Swedish Lakes and Wetlands

Dalarna's landscape is defined by its diverse aquatic systems, ranging from the expansive 34-square-kilometer Venjanssjön to the interconnected Barken lakes, which form part of the historic Strömsholm Canal. This collection features significant reservoirs like Trängsletdammen on the Dalälven river alongside clusters of smaller ponds and lakes near Nornäs and Malung-Sälen. These waters belong to major Swedish drainage basins, including the Dalälven and Norrström, supporting local ecosystems and hydroelectric infrastructure while providing extensive space for regional fishing and boating.
