The Garden Route and Klein Karoo feature diverse geological formations, from the Precambrian limestone chambers of the Cango Caves to the dramatic sandstone cliffs of the Robberg Peninsula. This region preserves significant archaeological sites like Blombos Cave, containing evidence of early human behavior. The landscape is defined by the rugged Swartberg and Outeniqua mountain passes, the indigenous forests of the Garden Route National Park, and coastal landmarks including the Knysna Heads and Cape St Blaize.
