Gmunden Essentials

Gmunden, situated at the northern end of Lake Traunsee, is defined by its centuries-old ceramic heritage and imperial architecture. This collection highlights the 11th-century Seeschloss Ort island castle and the neo-Gothic Cumberland Castle. The town’s history is preserved in the Kammerhofmuseum and the Stadttheater, while the Grünberg cable car provides access to the Alpine landscape of the Salzkammergut. Nearby, the Traunstein peak and Laudachsee offer rugged terrain for hiking, complemented by the historic Traunseetram connecting the town to the surrounding region.
