Gmunden Lakeside Promenades
Gmunden’s lakeside is defined by the historic Esplanade and the rugged Ostuferweg, a trail tracing the eastern shore of Traunsee. These piers and landing stages serve as vital docking points for the Traunsee shipping fleet, including the 19th-century paddle steamer Gisela. They provide direct water access to traditional guesthouses like Hoisn’wirt and Grünberg am See, while offering clear views of the 1,691-meter Traunstein mountain. Many of these wooden structures are essential transit points for hikers navigating the Salzkammergut’s waterfront paths.
