Gothenburg’s performing arts scene centers around the cultural hub of Götaplatsen, home to the 1934 City Theatre and the contemporary art space Göteborgs Konsthall. The city’s theatrical history is further represented by the 1916 Lorensbergsteatern and the socially engaged Folkteatern at Järntorget. For experimental work, Atalante occupies a former 1930s cinema near Skanstorget, hosting avant-garde dance and music.
