Guadeloupe Essentials
Guadeloupe’s archipelago is defined by the contrast between the volcanic terrain of Basse-Terre and the coral plains of Grande-Terre. This collection spans the active La Soufrière volcano, the multi-tiered Carbet Falls, and the underwater biodiversity of the Jacques Cousteau Reserve. Historical sites include Fort Louis Delgrès and the Mémorial ACTe, which documents the history of the slave trade. From the northern limestone cliffs of Pointe de la Grande Vigie to the golden sands of Deshaies, these locations represent the natural and cultural heritage of the French Caribbean.
Plage de Grande-Anse
One of the longest beaches in Guadeloupe, featuring a kilometer of golden sand bordered by palm trees and lush hills. Located on the northwest coast of Basse-Terre, it is a significant site for nesting sea turtles.
Mémorial ACTe
A contemporary museum and cultural center dedicated to the history of the slave trade. Located on the site of a former sugar refinery, the building features a distinctive silver lattice façade and extensive permanent exhibitions on the African diaspora.
Second Carbet Falls
Carbet Falls is a series of waterfalls on the Carbet River in Guadeloupe, an overseas department of France located in the Leeward Islands…
La Caravelle
A white-sand beach in Sainte-Anne characterized by calm, shallow turquoise waters and coconut palms. Protected by a coral reef, the area is a frequent location for windsurfing and snorkeling.
