Gyeongju's Ancient Heritage

Gyeongju served as the capital of the Silla Kingdom for nearly a millennium, leaving behind a dense collection of archaeological treasures. This list features the UNESCO-designated Gyeongju Historic Areas, including the 7th-century Cheomseongdae observatory and the Seokguram Grotto. Gyeongju Historic Areas Daereungwon Areas

This central district contains the largest concentration of Silla-era royal tombs. The grassy mounds represent the unique wooden-chamber tomb construction with stone mounds typical of the Silla royalty.
