Religious Sites in Hatay

Hatay’s religious landscape reflects its history as a crossroads of civilizations. Antakya houses the Church of Saint Peter, an early Christian cave sanctuary, and the Habib-i Neccar Mosque, built on a former Roman temple and considered the oldest mosque in Anatolia. The region features the 6th-century ruins of the Monastery of Saint Simeon Stylites and the 10th-century Georgian Barlum Monastery.
