Haugesund Essentials

Haugesund’s identity is rooted in its royal Viking heritage and maritime history. This selection highlights the Haraldstøtta national monument, marking the unification of Norway, and the stone cross at Krosshaugen dating back to the year 1000. The city’s architectural landscape is defined by the neoclassical pink City Hall and the neo-Gothic Vår Frelsers kirke. Visitors can explore coastal history at the Vardafjellet battery or take in panoramic views of the Karmsundet strait from the Havnaberg viewpoint.
