Howth Coastal Highlights

The Howth peninsula features a diverse trail network connecting maritime landmarks and prehistoric sites. The route includes the 1817 Howth Harbor Lighthouse and the 1814 Baily Lighthouse, which stands on the southeastern cliffs. Archaeological highlights include Aideen’s Dolmen, a Neolithic portal tomb with a massive 75-tonne capstone. The path climbs to the peninsula’s highest points at Shielmartin Hill and the Ben of Howth, offering panoramic views of Dublin Bay, the Wicklow Mountains, and the Irish Sea.
