The Isle of Arran’s architectural history spans from Iron Age fortifications to grand Victorian estates. This collection features the red sandstone Brodick Castle, a former seat of the Dukes of Hamilton, and the 13th-century Lochranza Castle, an L-plan tower house on the northern coast. Explorers can also find the remains of Kildonan Castle, which once guarded the southern approaches, the medieval ruins of Kilbride Chapel near Lamlash, and the archaeological site of the Viking Fort at Kingscross.
