Archaeological Sites

This collection explores the architectural legacy of northern Jordan, centered on the Greco-Roman city of Gerasa. The list features the remarkably preserved Jerash Hippodrome and a complex of 6th-century Byzantine churches renowned for their intricate floor mosaics. Complementing these Roman remains is the 12th-century Ajloun Castle, a strategic Muslim fortress built to counter Crusader influence. Smaller archaeological sites and 'khirbets' around Sakib provide further insight into the region's continuous habitation from antiquity through the medieval period.
